Radio Riff is an anachronism in the world of highly focused, consumer-targeted media. In an age where what’s most popular gets play, and flexibility of an automatically generated playlist is paramount, Radio Riff seeks to head back to the attitude that made rock and radio what it was at its best.
Music is a social experience. It starts with one person who has a tune, and that person must share that tune, and those who hear it from him, must share their love of it with others, and they with others… soon crowds assemble to hear it play, people pay to buy recordings of it and bring back the memories of the assembly, and moments are made and cherished with that tune in the background between people. It’s social. It always has been.
Radio Riff is a station that seeks to return to that ideal. The personality DJ sharing their passion, their love of music with the audience. The days when radio was *entertainment* and not just another soundbox.
